SONORA, California — Republican Alexandra Duarte and Democrat Jaron Brandon are offering voters in California’s 4th Senate District different approaches to the costs and public-service challenges facing the Valley and Sierra communities.
For the November 3, 2026, election, their official campaign websites provide a documented account of their priorities. California58 has not independently confirmed either candidate’s personal voting time, method or location. This Sonora edition serves district readers; it does not establish that either candidate voted in Sonora.
Duarte: taxes, insurance and infrastructure
Duarte’s campaign platform calls for reducing taxes and regulations that she argues increase fuel costs. She also advocates insurance reform and increased funding for Cal Fire, linking foothill families’ financial concerns to wildfire protection.
Her stated wildfire proposals include clearing dead wood and brush and funding firefighting stations and equipment. On employment, she supports transportation improvements, community-college investment and job training intended to expand opportunities closer to home.
Duarte also advocates additional water infrastructure, including dams, canals and pipes, and stricter criminal sentencing. These are her campaign proposals. Their publication does not establish projected savings, legislative feasibility or future results.
Brandon: local control and regional investment
Brandon’s official campaign website emphasizes local government, collaboration and investment in Valley and mountain communities. He describes housing insecurity, wildfire, health and education as challenges requiring attention in Sacramento.
His campaign presents public safety, infrastructure and housing as central areas of his local work. It also highlights natural-resource management, rural representation, services for seniors and veterans, and opportunities for young people. Those descriptions reflect the campaign’s account of his record and priorities.
Brandon argues that statewide decisions too often apply the same approach to communities with different needs. His stated emphasis is on building agreement and strengthening the role of local government. The website’s broad commitments do not constitute a fully costed legislative program.
What the available evidence establishes
The two candidates’ published agendas make rural affordability, wildfire and regional services useful points of comparison. They do not establish a November 3 polling-place visit, an Election Day interview or a new voting video. No such appearance is asserted in this report.
